When you’re done, a capture’s screenshot shows only the part you want, and its full original is kept so you can put it back.

Open a screenshot

  1. In Library, choose the capture.
  2. Choose Notes in the bar at the top of the capture’s page. A panel opens on the right.
  3. Choose Images, the picture icon, third from the left at the top of the panel. Your screenshots show as tiles.
  4. Choose a screenshot. It opens large in a viewer, with Crop on the viewer’s right side.

Crop it

  1. Choose Crop. The viewer’s right side reads “Drag over the picture to choose what to keep.”
  2. Drag over the part of the picture you want to keep. A frame marks it and the rest dims.
  3. To move the frame, drag inside it.
  4. To resize the frame, drag one of its corners.
  5. Choose Save crop. The viewer’s right side reads “Cropped.” with Restore original below it.
The crop shows on the screenshot’s tile and in the capture’s notes, under the pencil icon at the top of the panel. When the screenshot is the capture’s cover (its tile reads “Cover”), the picture at the top of the capture’s page shows the crop too. Crop stays in the viewer after you save. Choosing it again starts from the full original, so you can widen a crop back out. To leave without saving, choose Cancel beside Save crop.

Put the full picture back

  1. Open the screenshot.
  2. Choose Restore original. The full picture comes back.

Or ask Scout

  1. Choose Learn more at the foot of the capture’s page. Scout’s chat opens beside the page, with the capture attached.
  2. Enter what to keep or cut in the chat’s message box. For example:
    • “Crop the bottom fifth off the screenshot in this capture.”
    • “Put the full screenshot back.”
Scout says what it changed, and the screenshot updates on the page. Scout doesn’t see the picture itself, so say how much to cut.

Remove a screenshot

On the Images tab, choose Remove image, the bin icon on the screenshot’s tile. The screenshot is removed straight away, with no question first.

Check it worked

The screenshot’s tile shows only the part you kept. Open it, and the viewer reads “Cropped.” with Restore original. After you choose Restore original, “Cropped.” is gone. Next: Capture something live
