# How your Library, Inbox, and Wiki fit together

> Know what you've chosen to keep and what still needs a decision.

Your Library holds the resources you've chosen to learn from. Your Inbox holds arrivals you haven't chosen to keep yet.

## Library: you've chosen it

An article you add, a note you write, or a capture you save belongs in your Library. Adding it is the decision to keep it. It doesn't take a detour through the Inbox because it is long or needs processing.

A Library resource can include its original content, a summary, and Scout's read on what is in it for you. You can bring it into a conversation, practice from it, or draw on it when making something.

Keeping a resource doesn't mean you've read or understood it. The Library preserves material you can work with.

## Inbox: decide whether to keep it

New items from publications you follow arrive in your Inbox. You can keep an item to bring it into the Library or dismiss it.

Scout can help you assess those arrivals and carry out the choices you ask for. Following a publication doesn't mean committing to read every item it publishes.

## Wiki: follow ideas across resources

The same idea can turn up in a book, a podcast, and your workshop notes. The Wiki gives those connections a place to gather.

Your Library starts with the things you bring in. The Wiki brings together the people, organizations, concepts, frameworks, and techniques found across them.

A resource answers “What did this article say?” A Wiki page helps you explore “Where else have I encountered this idea?” or “What do I have from this person?”

This makes it easier to return to an idea without remembering which resource introduced it.

Connections can help you compare explanations, notice a recurring method, or find another perspective. They don't make every interpretation correct. Return to the linked resource when you want the original context or need to check a claim.

Scout can help you investigate what's in your Library. Coach can help you work through what an idea means and whether you can use it.

The Wiki grows from the material Bettership processes. You can use it as a way back into your learning rather than as another filing system to maintain.

## A collection groups related resources

A collection might hold the material for a course, a book, or a subject you're exploring. It helps keep related resources together. A Focus Area answers a different question: what you want to get better at.

You can use both without treating them as interchangeable. A course collection holds the course material. Your Focus Area might be the communication skill you're learning from that course.
