# Your data and privacy

> Understand what Bettership keeps and how to request a copy or a change.

Bettership keeps the material and context you bring so you can return to your learning and the agents can help from the same workspace.

## What's kept

This includes account and profile details, resources and extracted text, your notes, conversations, practice history, and things you've made. Bettership also keeps summaries and connections drawn from that material.

A capture can include its transcript, notes, screenshots, and images retained through **Watch window**. Transcripts are stored as spoken. Names, email addresses, and other personal details aren't automatically masked.

Your material and relevant context are processed by the services Bettership uses to provide its features. Bettership also keeps diagnostic information to investigate errors and improve the product.

## Recordings and transcripts are different

In the default capture mode, audio recordings are retained locally for seven days to help recover transcription. The app attempts cleanup when it starts, so files can remain longer if Bettership isn't opened or cleanup fails.

Removing local audio doesn't remove the saved transcript. Transcripts, notes, and other workspace data remain in your account until you remove them or request account deletion.

## Review or correct your personal context

Open **Settings → Profile → Manage memories** to review saved memories. You can also ask Steward what it remembers and request a correction or removal.

A profile field, such as your name or role, is separate from a saved memory. Check the Profile page when you want that field changed too.

## Take a copy or delete your account

A self-service account export isn't available yet. Email [privacy@bettership.ai](mailto:privacy@bettership.ai) to request a copy or help correcting personal data.

Account deletion is under **Settings → Sign-in & security**. It is permanent, so request any copy you want before deleting. Bettership aims to complete the request within 30 days or one calendar month, whichever comes first. Some diagnostic logs, backups, and records kept for legal reasons have separate retention periods. Capture files on another computer need to be removed there as well.
