# Add an email we can reach

> Replace an Apple forwarding address with an email you read and can sign in with.

If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, add an address you read. Bettership sends account email there, and you can sign in with it.

With Hide My Email, your Bettership email is an Apple forwarding address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com. You'll see it in **Settings → Sign-in & security**.

## Before you start

You need to open the inbox of the address you add, because Bettership sends a code to it.

## Add your email

1. Open **Settings → Sign-in & security**.
2. In the **Email** row, choose **Add your email**.
3. Enter the address you read in **Email we can reach you at**.
4. Choose **Send code**. A code field appears, labeled "Code sent to" and your address.
5. Open the email "Your Bettership email code" in that inbox.
6. Enter the six-digit code in that field.
7. Choose **Confirm**. Your new address replaces the forwarding address in the **Email** row.

## From the sidebar or setup

The card **Add an email we can reach** sits in the left sidebar, above your name. Choose **Add email** on it to open the same form in **Settings → Sign-in & security**. Choose **Not now** to hide the card.

When you first set up your account, the field **Email we can reach you at (optional)** appears under your name, with its own **Send code**. You can leave it empty and add an address later.

<Note>
  If the address already has a Bettership account, the row says "That address already has a Bettership account. Sign out, then sign in with Google or an email code at that address."
</Note>

## Check it worked

The **Email** row shows your new address with the note "Done. Bettership will email" followed by that address and "and you can sign in with it." The card no longer appears in the sidebar.
